High-quality photos and high-resolution videos are crucial for the success of an online jewelry store. In the digital world, where customers cannot physically examine a product before purchase, visuals play a vital role in their decision-making process. High-quality photos allow customers to have a clear view of the jewelry’s details, craftsmanship, and overall aesthetic appeal. Similarly, high-resolution videos enable customers to see the jewelry in motion, providing a more immersive experience. These visuals instill confidence in customers, helping build trust and increasing the likelihood of a sale. Ultimately, by investing in stunning visuals, an online jewelry store can create an enticing and visually captivating shopping environment that engages and converts potential customers.
A Canadian brand, Customer A, sells 925 sterling silver tennis necklaces in its online store. These are timeless classics for both men and women and are part of a trend that every brand is selling.
Sobling’s sales team analyzed Customer A’s order quantity and learned that Customer A was selling only 30% of its tennis necklaces compared to Customer B’s orders in the same area. So, Sobling’s sales team presented this situation to Customer A.
Sobling and Customer A checked the visit, conversion rate, turnover and other indicators of its tennis necklace product page and compared it with Customer B’s product page, then found that Customer A’s product displayed pictures were blurred, no clear details could be seen, and the luster effect of diamonds was not strong, the whole necklace looked dull and lifeless, it was hard for buyers to generate the desire to buy after browsing.
In order to solve the above problems, Sobling re-shoot the whole set of HD product pictures for Customer A’s tennis necklace, each picture is in HD, the HD details clearly show the perfect workmanship, and there are HD dynamic video and strong diamond luster effect, so that buyers can see all the details of the tennis necklace from all angles, which enhances the attraction to buyers and increases their trust. Finally, Customer A’s sales of this product increased by 300%.

As you can see from the above example, for online shopping mall sales, high definition product images and details are very important and have at least a 40% impact on sales.
According to Sobling’s survey of clients, most of them have 2 ways to create product images:
- Outsource product photography to a third-party photography company. The advantage of this method is that you don’t need to do the work yourself, you just need to request it and wait for it to be done. The disadvantage is that the cost is high, around $20-$40 for 1 image and starting at $100 per product, which is very expensive for small and medium-sized online stores and takes up too much of their working capital.
- Customers take the initial photos themselves and then outsource the digital editing of the photos to workers in India, Pakistan and other countries with lower labor costs. The advantage of this is that it greatly reduces the cost of the photos, which can be as little as $5-$10 per photo. The disadvantages are that it takes up the store owner’s valuable marketing and sales time, and the outsourced photo processing is not as realistic as the real thing, and because the editors are not jewelry professionals, they are unable to clearly understand the unique selling points of each piece of jewelry, resulting in the finished image being either too white or lacking in luster, as in the case of Customer A mentioned above, which affects the final conversion rate and turnover.
- However, no matter the 1st or 2nd way mentioned above is adopted, the products will have the risk of being leaked before the official launch, especially some newly developed products, which can be easily copied by competitors before you get back the development cost, and the loss in this case is incalculable.
Based on the above factors and considerations, Sobling decided to provide one-stop jewelry photography and digital editing services for our clients based on our experience and the resources we already have, which can save 20% of time and 50% of cost for our clients.
Our photographers have more than 5 years of professional experience in jewelry product photography, and all the photos taken for the products have realistic and vivid colors, three-dimensional shapes and dynamic, glowing clusters that are extremely attractive to buyers and help to significantly increase the sales of your online store.
